In Loving Memory of Lillie Avnell (Wooten) Bayne January 11, 1941 – October 18, 2025 Beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Lillie Avnell (Wooten) Bayne, affectionately known as “Memie,” passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Avnell was born on January 11, 1941, to the late Genevieve (Barbare) McCauley and Hewey Wooten and survived by her husband, Larry Bayne. At just 17 years old, she married the love of her life and together they shared 67 beautiful years of marriage. She is survived by her children: Rosita Denise (Bayne) Garrison of Iva, SC and James Scott Bayne Sr. of Belton, SC. Avnell was a proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Amanda Glover (David) of Anderson, SC, Abey Finley of Woodruff, SC, Adam Garrison of Iva, SC, Scott Bayne Jr. (Priscilla) of Travelers Rest, SC, James W. Bayne (Emily) of Greenwood, SC, and Donielle Bayne of Chapin, SC. She and Larry were blessed with 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her endless joy and pride — joy that she, in turn, gave back to them in abundance Avnell is preceded in death by her two sons, Larry Dale Bayne and Donald Keith Bayne, her great granddaughter Kayla (Glover) Quick, and her son-in-law, Mark Rush Garrison. A longtime member of Eastview Baptist Church of Pelzer, SC, Avnell faithfully led the church’s Senior Program for many years. Her passion for life was evident in the simple pleasures she enjoyed—playing games, taking spontaneous day trips to the mountains or the beach, and most of all, spending time with her beloved family. Avnell was a strong, nurturing, and faithful woman who left an indelible mark on every life she touched. Her perseverance through life’s challenges, her unwavering love for her family, and her deep faith in God made her a powerful role model—especially for the women in her life. She taught by example how to love fiercely, live joyfully, and trust fully in God. Her legacy of love, faith, and strength will live on in all who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park at 2:30 PM.
