Opal Louise Lane

December 13, 1922 - July 5, 2020

Opal Louise Reynolds Lane 97 , wife of the late John A Lane, left this world for her heavenly home on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Blue Ridge Health and Rehab in Hendersonville, NC. Opal was born in Pickens County on December 13, 1922 to the late Jesse Cleveland Reynolds and the late Edith Looper Reynolds. She spent most of her life in the Travelers Rest area. Opal retired from J.P Stephens White Horse Road Plant and was a member of Slater Baptist Church. She was a wonderful storyteller and author. She loved to write stories, many based on childhood experiences or others from her highly creative imagination and share them with her family and friends. She always had a humorous story to tell everyone who visited her. She had articles published in Reader’s Digest and other local publications. Although Opal did not have children of her own, she will be remembered for her unselfish love for the children in her family and those left in her care. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two infant children, two sisters, Ruby Saxton and Elizabeth Blair and eight brothers, Ansel, Jesse Jr., T.J., Charles, Larkin, Oliver, Walker, and LeRoy. Opal was the last surviving member of her immediate family. The family would like to thank the staff at the Blue Ridge Health and Rehab for their loving care and for adopting Opal as their “Aunt Opal”. A special thanks to Jennie Bridges, her nurse for going beyond duty to take care of her. Visitation will be held Thursday July 9, 2020 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends at that time. Funeral Services will follow immediately afterward at 1:00 PM in the Chapel. Burial will follow at Coleman Memorial Cemetery, Travelers Rest, SC. In honor of her love for children, Memorial donations may be made to the Grace Christian Fellowship One Child Fund, 409 Tolar Rd. Travelers Rest, SC
