THE LEGACY OF WAYNE THOMAS. (Lovingly submitted by his beloved family). Wayne Edward Thomas, 91, of Travelers Rest, SC. went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, March 20, 2021. He passed peacefully in his home. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Earnest Alpha Thomas and Mary Cumi Howard Thomas. Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Frankie Lee Thomas, and his children, Michael Wayne Thomas and Shari Dee Massey. He was blessed beyond measure with five grandchildren and one great grandchild. There are not adequate words to express what he meant to his family. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, great great uncle, mentor, friend, and follower of Christ. His tenacious spirit lives on in both of his children and their respective families. His love for life and people was evident in the multiple projects he worked on by himself, with family, and friends. The many talents he was given by God seemed limitless. From constructing, reconditioning, and painting automobiles, to manufacturing furniture, upholstery, building houses, and managing rental properties - his persistence knew no bounds. He lived each day to the fullest. It was known by his entire family that there wasn’t a project he couldn’t do. With all of this God given talent, he was the most humble and compassionate man who took time to help others with their projects. His ability was seen early on as a teenager in high school. In Woodshop, most teens built Chess boards or cedar chests. But not Wayne - he would go on to receive an A for building a boat with a cabin at the age of sixteen. He was a multi-gifted man with a work ethic rare to see. His standards were high, he challenged others, and he worked on three projects during the week of his heaven-bound home going. His walk with the Lord can be captured by the phrase “By faith and not by sight.” To know Wayne was to know joy, humor, zest for life, and especially love. “He was a man of faith and we watched him grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. He grew in prayer and compassion for others. He loved his family. Prayed for his children, in-laws, grands, and great granddaughter, nieces, and nephews...all by name.” * Frankie Lee Thomas, Wife “Lately, others have noticed and pointed out that I say the same things he used to say. I’ve realized that about myself, too. I even find myself acting the very same way as my dad. All I can say to others is ‘get used to it.’ He left me with a sense of self worth, capability to conquer anything I set my mind to, compassion that ran deep, a heart shared for Jesus, and a bar set so high I'll die trying to reach it. See you later, dad.” *Michael Wayne Thomas, Son “My dad! What a man! Always loving, joyful, playful, serving, and present. A man of faith who prayed and worshipped the King of Kings and purposely lived the life of a Godly man. I couldn’t have been blessed with a better dad than him. And now he’s face to face worshiping our Lord and Savior. I rejoice in that for him. I will miss him always until we are side by side worshipping our King together. I look forward to that reunion. Always my daddy’s girl.” *Shari Dee Massey, Daughter Wayne’s legacy lives on in his family: Frankie Thomas, wife of 21 years Michael and Rhonda Thomas, son and daughter-in-law Grant and Brittany Thomas, grandson and wife Kyle and Jennifer Thomas, grandson and wife Katelyn Thomas, granddaughter Lexie Thomas, daughter of Grant and great granddaughter of Wayne Thomas Shari and Larry Massey, daughter and son-in-law Natalie Massey granddaughter Tiffany and Jonathan Anderson, granddaughter and husband Services will be privately held by the family. * The Thomas family respectfully requests that no floral tributes be sent.
