Celida Margarita Valdes

Celida Margarita Valdes, 90, of Travelers Rest, SC, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Célida Valdés was born in Camagüey, Cuba on January 31, 1936. She passed peacefully into eternity on March 5, 2026, at the age of 90 and surrounded by her loved ones. Célida came to the United States in 1964, beginning a new chapter marked by resilience, generosity, and deep devotion to those she loved. She is survived by her five children, Leonardo Valle (Betty), Gonzalo Valle (Mery), Cheli Martinez, Lizet Franco (Johnny), and Michelle Moyano (Antonio) as well as twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty-eight greatgrandchildren, with one more expected soon—each a cherished part of her growing legacy. She is also survived by one sister, Maria Duran, and many nephews and nieces. Known for her warm hospitality and unwavering kindness, Célida had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcomed and cared for. Her joyful spirit, often expressed through laughter, touched many lives. She was an avid gardener, a gifted creative soul, and a lover of poetry—both reciting and writing it with heartfelt passion. Célida will be profoundly missed by her family and friends. Yet they take comfort knowing she now beholds her Savior, Christ Jesus, where “in His presence there is fullness of joy; at His right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11). Célida Valdés nació en Camagüey, Cuba el 31 de enero del 1936 y pasó a la eternidad el 5 de marzo del 2026 a la edad de noventa años. Ella falleció en paz rodeada de sus seres amados. Célida vino a los Estados Unidos en 1964 y empezó un nuevo capítulo en su vida definido por su resiliencia, generosidad y profunda devoción hacia aquellos que amaba. La sobreviven sus cinco hijos, Leonardo Valle (Betty), Gonzalo Valle (Mery), Cheli Martínez, Lizet Franco (Johnny) y Michelle Moyano (Antonio) así como sus veintiún nietos y veintiocho biznietos. También la sobrevive su hermana María Durán y muchos sobrinos. Célida era conocida por su amabilidad, su hospitalidad y su habilidad de hacer a otros sentirse como en casa. Su espíritu y vitalidad tocó muchas vidas. Ella poseía el don de la creatividad, y amaba la jardinería, el arte y la poesía. Muy a menudo recitaba largas poesías que había memorizado o que había compuesto. Célida deja un gran vacío en la familia y amigos. Sin embargo, todos se consuelan sabiendo que ahora está en la presencia de su Salvador, Cristo Jesús, en cuya presencia hay plenitud de gozo; delicias a su diestra para siempre (Salmo 16:11). Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM at Travelers Rest Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow immediately afterward in the chapel at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
