Gerald Charles Wineland

Gerald "Jerry" Charles Wineland, son of the late Charles Schultz Wineland and late Norma Louise Haynes Wineland and beloved husband of forty-eight years to Betty Jean Wineland, departed this life on February 28, 2026, peacefully at home. Jerry had a strong work ethic that began while working on the family farm in Michigan. His grit and determination were instrumental in his owning furniture and appliance stores in Michigan, Indiana, North and finally in South Carolina. He and his wife were the owners of J & J Bargain Center in Greenville, SC before their retirement. He was self taught in the disciplines of pluming, appliance refurbishing, and handyman services. There was not much he could not fix. In addition to his years of physical labor to care and provide for his family, he had a love of the outdoors. He was happiest with a fishing pole in one hand and one on the shore of any freshwater fishing hole or deep sea fishing on a charter boat. Jerry loved his family, his church and his Heavenly Father. His outgoing personality, friendliness and willingness to help anyone in need, whether friend or stranger (whom didn't remain a stranger for long), will be what most will remember and miss. He leaves behind, until reunited at Christ's return, his loving wife, Betty Jean Wineland, of the home; three sons Brian (Bess) Hall of Abu Dahbi, UAE, Kevin (Laura) Hall of Charlotte, Jerry Lee (Shelli) Wineland of Rockford, Michigan, and a daughter Sheri (Randy) Stauffer of Greenville, SC. He was blessed with nine grandchildren: Amber Lynn, Daisy, Brychan, Alex, Patrick, Amber, Owen, Brandon and Rhys, all of whom he loved dearly. His only sister, Pat (Bob) Schaible Brunton of Michigan, and four brothers-in-law Floyd (Bonnie) Meeks, Gary (Bonnie) Meeks, David (Nina) Meeks and Richard Meeks. In addition to those listed, he leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends he considered family. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13th, 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Maranatha Fellowship Seventh-day Adventist Church. Funeral Services will be held immediately afterward in the sanctuary at 1:00 PM. Committal service and burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family asks that in leu of flowers, donations be made to the American Lung Association in his honor. "Lovingly submitted by family"
