Jacqueline Guess Partin

It is with sorrow, and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jacqueline Guess Partin, on Wednesday May 13, 2026. Jackie was born the youngest of 10 children, on November 18, 1935 in Sumter County, SC, to the late Loretta Hodge Brunson and John Hezekiah Brunson. Tragically, her mother passed away when Jackie was 9 days old. She was then adopted by Clifton and Janebelle Guess. Then again, when she was 7 years old, her beloved “Daddy Guess” passed away. Although her young life was peppered with loss, she had great happiness in the joy of knowing and growing up with her siblings in her life. She was a woman of tremendous passion. It goes without saying that her greatest passion in life was her family. She was devoted to ensuring her kids would have the childhood she felt she missed. She was the carpool mom, the neighborhood mom who all the neighborhood kids would hang out with, the sideline mom cheering every win, the stall mucker mom (no matter how stinky the job may have been) … she was always there, and engaged. She was creative, curious, and talented in so many ways. As a seamstress she made clothing that would rival any professional designer. She had impeccable taste in decorating. There really wasn’t anything she couldn’t create. She loved gardening, antiquing, reading, playing cards (especially Bridge), adventure (white water rafting, whale watching, cruises), and last but not least everything Clemson, especially football. In each city she lived, she devoted herself to involvement in the community. Whether it was her children’s school events, PTA or non-profits such as Easter Seal Guild, it didn’t matter, Jackie was always the first one to step up. As life sometimes does, it changed in the late 90’s. Wanting to be closer to family, she relocated to Greenville. Without missing a beat, she found her new church community at Christ Church. She began volunteering at the hospital emergency room, and other non-profits through her church and community. Where she found her calling was as a Guardian Ad Litem. She was driven to keep each child under her watch as safe as possible. One of the proudest moments in her life was when her advocacy was awarded in 2007 along with recognition in the Greenville News. Throughout her life, the one motivation in everything she did was love … love of her children, family, and friends, and taking care of others truly defined her life. Jackie is survived by her three children, Glenda Partin, Mike Partin, Paige Partin, a dearly loved grandson Zach Partin, two special “stepchildren” Bo Boyle, Gena Reed, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her four brothers Jack W. Brunson, Robert Brunson, Charles Brunson, James Hodge, her five sisters Sara Zemp, Francis Denton, Elma Stafford, Emma “Snookie” Marshall, Harriet Bruce, the father of her children Jim Partin and one very special friend Charlie Boyle. Committal Service and Entombment will commence at 11:00 AM on Sunday, May 31st, 2026 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens 14050 East Wade Hampton Blvd, Greer, SC 29651 Lovingly submitted by the family.
