Joan Phyllis Amanda Williams

Joan Phyllis Amanda Williams went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at her home in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Joan was born in Newberry, Michigan, on August 28, 1943 to Henry Vernon Williams and Nellie Myrtle Williams. She was a graduate of Edward Drummond Libbey High School in Toledo, Ohio. She earned her diploma as a professional medical assistant at Toledo Medical Education Center (Ohio). She worked in the cardiology department at Toledo Hospital (Ohio), Greenville Memorial Hospital (South Carolina) and Morton Plant Hospital (Florida) for most of her career. She also briefly attended the University of Dayton (Ohio), where she had aspirations of becoming an architect. Joan is predeceased by her parents, Henry Vernon Williams and Nellie Myrtle Williams; her brothers, Vernon Andrew “Andy” Williams, Arthur Malberg and Carl Malberg; her nephew, Peter Joel Mack; and her brother-in-law, Newell William Eugene “Gene” Mack, Sr. Joan is survived by her daughter, Robin Gantek (husband, Chris); and 3 grandchildren, Grayson, Cameron and Kiersten; her sister, Donna Mack Lewis; her nieces and nephews, whom she helped raise and loved as her own, Kathy Coggins (husband, Johnny), Bill Mack (wife, Sharon), Amy Carroll (husband, Chris), Barbara O’Donnell (partner, Erick Cuyar), Andy Mack (wife, Stacy), Darren Mack and Anna Bryant (husband, Tim); many great nephews and nieces; many great great nephews and nieces; and her beloved Pomchi (the dog), Sadie Mae. Joan loved to spend time with her family. She also liked to travel, especially going to the beach. In her spare time, she liked to play board games, card games, read mystery novels, do word puzzles and watch old tv shows or Hallmark movies. She also had a love of all animals, especially dogs and cats. Joan loved the Lord and devoted her life to serving Him in several church ministries through-out her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
